KOA NEWS SERVICE (June 12, 2017) – The Lake Placid/Whiteface Mountain KOA Holiday in New York is teaming with the Lake Placid Olympic Development Authority (ORDA) for a one-of-a-kind special event for campers on Thursday, June 29.

The event includes a “meet and greet” with the USA Bobsled and Skeleton Team, along with a Kid’s Triathalon, a torch lighting ceremony and a barbecue to support KOA Care Camps for children with cancer (www/koacarecamps.org).

“ORDA is fortunate to have a wonderful partnership with both KOA and the USA Bobsled and Skeleton Team, and we appreciate the support they give us as well as the support they provide to the athletes that train on our magnificent venues,” said ORDA’s Eric Van Ness. “What better way to bring everything together than with an event for kids in a super family environment at the KOA?”

The event begins on June 29 with the torch lighting ceremony at 5 p.m. at the campground. Next comes the Kid’s Triathalon at 5:30 p.m. and the  Care Camps Barbecue and Awards Ceremony at 6:30 p.m.

Campers are advised to call the campground front desk at 800-562-0368 to register children in advance for the Kid’s Triathalon, since only 20 spots are available.

The Lake Placid/Whiteface Mountain KOA Holiday is located at 77 Fox Farm Road in Wilmington, New York. For more information about the campground, or to book reservations, visit www.koa.com/camp/lake-placid.
